The northern part of the country consists mostly of highlands and the Red River Delta. Phan Xi Păng, located in Lào Cai province, is the highest mountain in Vietnam at 3,143 m (10,312 ft). Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam, and hosts many government institutions, museums and memorials. It retains much of its older colonial charm even though it was in conflicts during most of the worldwide modern architecture                
                                                                                                                     
Destinations in the North of Vietnam include Hanoi, Halong, Sapa, Ninh Binh, Mai Chau (Hoa Binh), Dien Bien. Most of them are the best destinations for traveller when visiting Vietnam.
